Microsoft and Bungie leaving thousands of Halo Reach fans unable to play

It's been 8 days since the release of Microsoft and Bungie's newest hit video game Halo: Reach. Millions of customers bought the game the opening day, and even thousands waited many hours in line for the midnight release at local video game retail stores. Unfortunately, many of these gamers were left to only find out their Xbox 360 console cannot play the game because of unforeseen technical difficulties.

Only hours after the release people were all over the Bungie.net forum complaining that the game is getting a "Disc Read Error" or that the game was freezing during game play. After going into a little more detail, some people are unable to even start the game up, because the Xbox 360 console would not recognize that the game was a game, sometimes it would just act as if it were a blank DVD and would not do anything.

In only 3 days there were over 1000 posts in 1 specific thread on the Bungie.net forum and the thread had someone from Bungie post in it and only said "Call 1800-4MY-XBOX for troubleshooting help" but the posts kept going on about how that was not helping.

By this time, the gamers were realizing that this problem was with specific Xbox 360 systems, primarily older Xbox 360 consoles and the new Xbox 360 Slim 4GB version. Even more surprisingly, people who bought the ExclusiveXbox 360 Halo: Reach Edition had this problem as well.

Most of them being the older Xbox 360's, these players were only left with 1 option, to send the console in for repairs, but since they are older Xbox 360's they don't have a warranty and they are ordered and demanded to pay 100$ for repairs cost. Now those gamers are questioning Microsoft "Why should I pay another 100$ to play this game? You made the mistake when you made the game, it is your fault, not mine. Why should I suffer with my time and money for your mistake?" Microsoft at 1800-4MY-XBOX said that they could not do anything unless they were to pay 100$ for repair costs. 1 person even reported that he talked to the manager of that facility and he had no answer for this problem either. The manager asked the customer to send in his Xbox and to pay the 100$ repair fee, the customer refused because of his belief that this is wrong for Microsoft to make him pay 100$ for Microsoft's mistake.

To make things even more interesting, the Bungie employee (He is considered an employee to the gamers on Bungie.net) said that if they called 1800-4MY-XBOX and told them the situation, that they would have the 100$ fee taken away, and make it free of charge. Even after that the gamers said Microsoft would not do such a thing, and that Bungie is not obligated to say that Microsoft would make it free of charge for the repair.

Right now there is no word on what the problem is or a solution. Microsoft and Bungie have refused to tell anyone what the problem is and what the solution is. Microsoft is demanding 100$ for the repair and when asked the specifics of the repair, they simply reply "We don't know" and even when you talk to the manager of that facility he has the same answer "I don't know what is wrong"

Thousands of gamers are left stranded with an Xbox 360 that can't even play the game they want to play the most.

I feel there pain. i have a xbox 360 ELITE. Which was born if you will in early 2009. I am experience lag!, VISUAL LAG. not network lag or etc... By the way- I'm getting alot of network lag, but every other game is fine. Halo Reach looks like a great game but the Xbox just can't run it. The only one that is able to run it out of my 5 friends is one that has the new 120gb slim xbox or w/e. But I'm sorry, I NOT GOING OUT TO BY ANOTHER XBOX just because its smaller. Microsoft or Bungie or who ever should fix this. If I bought an Xbox 360- it doesn't matter how old. It should run. Thats the point of a console over a pc. A pc you will have to upgrade but when you have a console the point is that- that one console is supposed to be the same. it is not our fauilt the company decided to change the specs of the xbox. It puts more pressure on the consumer and the producer of these games and it just causes alot of hell.
