On Sunday as I was walking through the flea market in West Virginia, I stumbled upon an old Nintendo 64. As I was thinking only a couple days ago about mine that I had as a kid and how I would like one again. I immediate bought it with a controller all the cords and the original James Bond Golden eye game! When I came home and plugged it in I was so happy to see that the original owner must have beating the game which was great because then I didn't have to do anything just play! As I was sitting there, I thought about how Old school this was and how many, many advances in technology had brought us to the day with online, HD, wireless, motion and whatever else gaming. Right now I have an Xbox 360 which I love very much, but it is also good to have an old system to really appreciate what you have and how cool it is to be old school!

I've got just about every system made (All but like 6 of them) and I have games for them. Unfortunately, I don't have the room to actually hook them all up, so emulation has taken the place of my retro gaming. However, my family and I still enjoy games like the original NES Zelda, Crystalis, Sonic, and even games like Pac-Man, which my brother and I are currently competing in for highest score.

Retro gaming will always be around, thankfully. Unfortunately, the games themselves will die for the most part when the children that played them are gone. Moral of this story? Always play the old games with your kids to show them what they missed before moving them up to the latest stuff.

Keep old games alive. :)

I have a Gameboy Color on my computer desk that I use to play Tetris on. In my closet...I have an Atari Flashback I bought about 10 or so years ago. This is an Atari 2600 with about 40 games built into the console with two joysticks...but no paddles. In addition...I still play DOS/Amiga/Commodore/NES/SNES/Atari 2600 games inside of emulators. If that's not enough...I also have a 360 I use as a media extender from the living room to my bedroom.

Games are worth a revisit no mater how old they get, never forget our roots. Nostalgia also plays a major roll in new game development Nintendo has made a fortune releasing revisited versions of our finest childhood memories.

old school gaming will never go away. I remember using my original NES back in the day. That was probably the first console I really got into, but we had some old school commodore stuff that I messed with before that.
