Geek Out!

More Information

I am an expert PC user, and when I go to a computer, I like to have 2 monitors. I think it makes you more organized, and it gives you a whole lot more space to work with. Me, when I am video editing, I will have one browser open to get pictures and what not, and in the other screen I will have the video editing program going.

When I switched to two monitors I could not switch back, I love the extra space, and it makes my desk look sexier, and more professional. What do you think about two monitors?

I would love the multi-monitor setup they had in the movie "Swordfish".

I am using two monitors now, and I can honestly say I could never go back, as my desktop would look cluttered.

I completely agree. I've had dual 24" monitors hooked up to my Mac Pro since January 09 and ever since I've wondered how I'd survived without them. They do look "sexy" and professional, I won't lie. But the space is wonderful for multitasking and organization! I'm hoping to get a third 24" monitor soon to have "surround sight" for my flight simulator.

I use 2, with the app Display Fusion. I love have 49" of desktop. I run games or Browsers on the 27" and anything else on the 22" to the left, like the email app, Ventrillo, Steam, WinAmp, etc.

It's great for Photoshop too, I put all the boxes on the left leaving the big space for what I'm working on.

I posted a similar question a while back regarding dual displays and I personally think that two displays makes me more productive. I have many apps open at the same time and it might sound ridiculous but the time saving having more screen real estate rather that switching between multiple applications on one display adds up over time. I have two displays in the office at work and hated going home to my single display so I went out and bought a second one, and I think i would struggle to go back to just having one display.

I've never used more than one monitor on a Mac, so I would probably never want that. Spaces would feel weird to me, what with having two different screens per space. Spaces eliminates the need for multiple monitors for me. Space one: Internet, Email, and whatever I am doing at the moment. Space two: Chat apps. Spaces three and four are random task ones, like if something is going to be doing something for a long time, it can go in the bottom spaces. Two is enough for me though.

On the PC, I used to have dual-monitors on my laptop, one being the built-in screen, and it was more a luxury than anything else. Sure, I loved having my email program open on the laptop screen and clicking on links would send them to the browser on the external monitor, but it wasn't necessary. I'm living in single-monitor mode with both my Mac and my PC and I'm doing fine. Don't get me wrong though, it would be awesome to buy a desktop PC with two monitors.

I think two monitors is great :b It would make my work (I'm developing programs) much more easy. But I just don't have enough space :b But if I had more space I would go buy another monitor right now :)
