Ok well spelling errors really bug the crap out of me. Sorry to sound mean or snotty or whatever but you spelled definitely wrong. You said defiantly, as in not cooperating. Easy mistake, I made it a few years ago and embarrassed the crap out of myself. Spellcheck rocks! :D

Oh and OOo is really really nice, runs great on my church's 400-some mHz WinXP machine :D

Yeah I have heard of google docs, aren't they web based. Is thats such a problem?

i tried to use OOo but its resource hog as its a java application, and i don't like Microsoft Office too, i prefer google docs its fast, accessible everywhere, and keeps my documents online so when i need something i can get it.

I would really love to see Open Office offer title case formatting for their text document program. I currently have to use a formula in the spreadsheet program to do the same thing. Then I have to copy and paste it into the text document.

I type "= proper (a1)" into the second line of the spreadsheet and press return. Then when I paste a ALL CAPS headline from a press agent (music industry) into the first line it changes it to title case.

If this could be done within the text document program it would be way more efficient.

I used WP thru version 5.1 then switched to MS Office thru version 2002 and I have played with Open Office which seems a pefectly competent word processor if your want to avoid expensive office suites. WP is more intuitive, expecially when changes are made to heavily formatted documents, but I have spent more time in MSWORD than the others combined but if I had to chose from scratch, I would go with a cheap version of WP.

For real basic documents, try Abiword (freeware). I never do anything more complicated than a personal letter, and Abiword will even save to and open MS Word docs.

Ooo is fine for normal, everyday items, although for such items, it's a bit bloated. For anything more complex, I would prefer WordPerfect. I've worked in the document production departments of the world's biggest law firms for over a decade and they all use MS Office now. MS Office makes you jump through hoops to do things; WordPerfect just let you do them. WP could create documents on a scale that would rival most desktop publishing programs.

If Ooo could get over the hurdle of being more user-friendly for creating/revising complex documents, it would be a perfect solution for all of one's word-processing needs.

ok then I will have to fix that... it didnt work when i tried thats why i wrote it.
