The iPhone changed the mobile phone industry forever. Then a year later iPhone OS 2.0 changed it again. Ever since the iPhone came out, other phone companies have tried to make an, "iPhone Killer." The Palm Pre, Blackberry Storm, LG Voyages and a countless amounts of other phones have failed at killing the iPhone. The next contender in the fight to bring the iPhone down is the Google Nexus. Google has put up a great fight against Apple, but Google and other phones are lacking somethings:

***Please note this list and entire article is for touch screen phones only, or phones that have some touch enabled features***

1.) iTunes: The most popular MP3 player is the iPod, so why not put two devices into one and have a phone and iPod together. Also other phones don't have its own media manager software like iTunes is to the iPhone.

2.) App Store: Over 100,000 apps enough said.

3.) Simplicity: All these other touch screen phones still have all these buttons and switches. The iPhone has only one button on the front and a few on the side.

4.) Apple Logo: Having this on the back of your phone makes you very cool.

5.) Large Screen: Many of the competitors don't even have large screens because of actually buttons which goes back to point #3.

So what going to be the iPhone killer. The next version of the iPhone to come out. As of now the iPhone is untouchable and keeps gaining more market share.

What if I: 1) hate iTunes (and DRM software in general), 2) already develop for android and want to use my own apps, 3) like that little nipple on the gPhone, 4) fanboi, 5) Nexus's screen is bigger and higher res...

There's a market for these other phones, they're selling, people are making profits - the iPhone is not the one size fits all solution. Go back into your MacCave, Apple kiddie : )

While Google's phone does not have the Apple logo, they do have a few 'cool' logos of their own. Other than that, they have access to many apps, very few buttons (perhaps 4 plus a track ball) and a screen that, I think, they said would be larger than the iPhone's. So, all they are missing, from your list, is a reliable way to play MP3s. I'm sure someone will make an iTunes app or a general MP3 player soon enough to counter this. Adding this onto Google being a large company even before trying to seriously make money, and you have a serious competitor for Apple.

I doubt Google's phone will kill Apple's, but the competition may be fierce.

I really don't see any phone every killing the iPhone ether. But I do think that there will be a phone that will be close enough for people.

The iPhone isn't perfect either - believe me, I've got one.

And regarding #4, an Apple logo doesn't make anything cool. What it does is it makes the design simple, since the logo is clean and nice. But definitely not cool.
And it definitely makes you look like a smug a**hole.

Regarding #1, iTunes is only good on the Mac platform. On Windows it's slow and buggy. (Again, I would know - I use both (mostly Mac though))

#5 Well, the Nexus one has a nice touchscreen. And very few buttons. But already too many.
