Everybody seems to be talking about the iPhone 4, even saying that out loud sounds quiet stupid. WHY? Well you probably by now might have seen at least 5 unboxing videos, 3 review videos and maybe a couple of written thoughts and then even might have searched twitter trends on iPhone to see what people are tweeting about the iPhone 4! Well, thats what geeks do. The iPhone 4 is unique. I personally love Apple and its obsession with innovation. It just seems to lead the way in the Mobile industry just like how a Shepard steers his goat community. Yeah, by now you probably know how good the iPhone is and how it serves as the best iPhone and any smartphone really! BUT, there's more to that. Like any product there are reasons not to buy a product. Its true when they say: that "one" killer feature buys and similarly loses.
Presumably the iPhone does have those annoyances as well and just stop a bit to think of it, these are huge:
1) Probably the biggest to anyone and against the real purpose of a mobile "PHONE" (device) is the the "Phone" itself. Unfortunately the news just went from being bad to very bad for AT&T. The iPhone reception drops on holding the "crevice like thing" in the steel band (acting as the antenna). Sorry AT&T (American customers). All that Apple tells to that is "Your holding it the wrong way" or "Get the bumper for an extra 30 dollars". HUH!
2) If you don't already know this, the iPhone 4 records 720p ! WOW, is my first impression of the photos and videos I have seen so far. But for those people sharing really matters, well, you can't apparently upload 720p (straight) from the iPhone to Youtube! At least for now, the pixels are dropped CONSIDERABLY in the process. But then again that won't be a real downside for the iPhone 4, but think about it. Wasn't there supposed the idea that mobile footage will be shot, edited and uploaded on the "device itself"! Whats up with that Apple?
3) The new iPhone is made of three major components, the Steel band and two glasses (one at the back and one at the front)! Well Apple says this is 30 times stronger than plastic. But initial news have suggested this Gorilla glass is breakable in a spider way! More bad news (yet another reason to get the Bumper protection skin).
4) If you are the kind of user that does not want to see your cellphone device with odd color overlays on it (not even for a bit) then this can be irritating. Apparently the display that was made wasn't dry enough for packing but due to the mammoth demand Apple had to pack it up anyway! And apparently a yellowish patch is appearing in streaks or circles at the bottom of the beautiful retina display. OH NO! This would be what I would see that on my phone! But fortunately for Apple, apparently it dries (so don't worry). Just wait for two days and use it vigorously until the yellow disappears!
5) Multitasking: Yes its available indeed. But it is not the multitasking we normally hear of. It is not the kind we would prefer but also the kind most wouldn't mind to use! Basically its like a human goes to sleep but his brain, memory, heart few and other senses are still working. Similarly the iPhone allows to run few API's in the background such as VOiP, Audio, etc and the app will remember you when you return to it in a bit! Its not full but workable. Personally I don't mind that!
6) Some old problems: Issues like low battery life (though improved on iPhone 4), no memory slot or anyway to expand memory, bad Data Plans, no intuitive response from the device on typing, etc still exist! Though most have got used to it, its still something to think about! And oh, according to sources iBooks app is buggy!
Said that, in my perspective the iPhone 4 is truly phenomenal and is THE best, yes, The best smartphone right now in the market. Its Apple so think differently! I will be getting mine as soon its available in my country. Yes, there are problems but its not as if I can find a device with less issues can I now! The Android community will be geared up about the flaws, but Google themselves knows its short comings (plural0 and admits to it! Bottom line: Apple continues to lead the way!
