Okay, So If you don't know already, (Meaning you don't read the blogosphere, but why would you be reading my blog post?) Apple And Palm Are At It again. Let me give you a little analogy here
Apple:Palm;Apple;iPhone Dev Team
That may not make a whole lot of sense at first, but to me, it does. They are both cat and mouse games, and they go back and forth, Palm makes the Pre sync with iTunes, Apple Fixes it, Palm Updates the Pres Firmware to allow it to work again.
Do we really need to play this? Palm really could come out with a really good syncing program for media. People with pres would most likely use it. As long as they allowed some type of iTunes integration.
Now, I'm not very good at blogging, (although I've done it forever) So please bear with me.
The iPhone Dev Team and apple play a cat and mouse game as well. iPhone Dev Team Jailbreaks and/or unlocks device, apple patches via new firmware or baseband. Wash, Rinse, Repeat...(or wait, is that my hair? oops.) Either way, I just don't see much need. Cat and mouse games are kinda stupid.
Now into more technical things, I suppose.
When the palm pre is connected to a computer in USB Drive mode, it is identified as ' IOSCSIBlockCommandsDevice'. But when the palm pre is in 'Media Sync' Mode, it is identified as 'com_apple_driver_iPodSBC' Even Worse, It even tells your computer "Product Identification = iPod" and "Vendor Identification = Apple". Is this not Illegal or something. Now I'm no lawyer, but I think It should be. It's just bad business practice, In my Opinion.
