The past few days, i have noticed some articles going out on the web saying the Desktop Computer will die out, and notebook (or laptops) computers will take over the market. So, i have decided to write my reasons why i think the Desktop Computer will not die out.
1. Performance
When it comes to performance, i think Desktop Computers come out on the top. Yes, laptops are starting to get better performance, as technology for smaller computer components gets better. But, I still think desktops will not be replaced. You can also have more storage space on a desktop computer, while most laptops only have room for one harddrive, you can have maybe up to 8 harddrives, depending on the type of case your computer has. Also, Desktop Computers have alot more room for extra components such as, video cards, sound cards, TV tuners, etc. Some Desktop Computers I've seen, have 3 video cards, which allows you to have up to 6 monitors.
2. Gaming and ease of upgrade.
Most gamers today, use Desktops as their gaming machines. Whether it be Mac, or Windows. As i stated above, the performance in a desktop computer is much better then a notebook computer, as well the ease of upgrade on a desktop based system. In order to upgrade a laptop, you would have to pretty much take the WHOLE thing apart, in order to get access to the CPU for example, which could be a real pain in the butt. But in a desktop, all you would have to do is remove the side panel from the PC case, remove the CPU cooler. And lift up the latch that is holding the CPU in place. Most laptops don't allow you to upgrade the GPU (Video Card). As a gamer, this is a big let down. In conclusion, gamers are constantly upgrading their systems, to meet the high requirements that new games are coming out with. A laptop just could not cut it.
So i conclude that, desktop computers will not die out. Yes, i acknowledge that mobile technology is starting to get popular, and better as new discoveries in technology emerge. But, i think mobile technology will only be good for traveling, or away from your desk. But, if you are just using a computer at home, on a desk. A desktop computer will be the best choice.
