The never ending "Bash the enemies OS"

Why can't people just stop bashing 'Microsoft' , 'Apple' or 'whatever'. Its always Apple sucks at this, or this sucks in Windows. SOFTWARE COMPANIES ARE NOT EVIL! they had their bad things, just like pretty much every company had. Can anyone remember when Google launched their "Google Chrome"? And like Apple was so creative? I mean the newest Ipad was from a Japanese company, and the old Lisa...Xerox? And wasn't it Steve Jobs himself who also quoted Picasso with saying "Good artist copy, great artist steal"?

Lets face it, whether you are Windows, Linux, Amiga or Apple fan,

What would the computer industry be without Microsoft and Windows, seriously? And I know people will start about Amiga and Apple, but why is Windows then still the most used OS? Apple, Amiga and Microsoft all were smart enough to take all information they could get from Xerox developers, because the Xerox Board didn't see what the Mouse, GUI and Networking could improve about computers... little did they realize they gave a 100 Billion dollar a year Business away.

Just like IBM did, when they thought "its all about the machines anyway" when they made the deal with Microsoft. And when they realized they had to make their own OS, they were already too late. We all know what happened in the end, Microsoft took the lead in the IT Industry.

Back to the basics, yes Microsoft maybe copied things from Apple, but why has Microsoft to die for that? All companies copy, face it. And honestly, what would Microsoft be without Apple and visa versa? Those companies need each other and saved each other multiple times in history. If one would go down, they all will cause they all need and saved each other.

And then you got the Linux Guru's...Linux is free! All companies suck because they ask too much money! bla bla. But what if those companies did not exist, and what if those well paid software developpers did not exist? Would pretty much 90% of the 1st world have a computer?

The Linux community is nice, I mean I am Dutch ! Free is allways nice! But don't they see that if we would not pay money for our software, then companies like Apple and Microsoft would not be able to spend billions of dollars into creating new innovating technologies, and be able to develop new software, because most Linux distribution's "Copy" features from Windows and MacOS so they can make it available free in Linux OS. Would Linux still be so great without Microsoft and Apple? I think not.

You got to love and hate rivals, I love the famous mafia quote, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. I like the way Apple makes those fancy looking software, but I also like the Microsoft compatibility with all kinds of hardware and software. I like the vision of Linux and open source, but I also think you cannot make “everything free”. Most Linux developers are programmers at other companies aswel. I ask myself the question” if everything would be free, do they realize they would be losing their jobs?”.

Its like the “drinking beer commercial” in Holland: Enjoy your beer, but drink carefully.

Open Source is good, but don’t ignore the Software Vendors either. They are the ones who made it possible we can all have those computers, software and browsers, they completed the road after universities and governments started it.

Everyone makes mistakes, but they also learn from those mistakes.

Good artist copy, great artist steal.

Correction: Linux is based on Unix which was developed in the 60s.

I'd pay for any operating system that was better than the rest, but I already have a copy of my favourite Unix inspired platform, not one of the cheap nasty Unix deriative clones. It's easier to use and has been repetitively proven to be the most secure platform in existence and is also compatible with more hardware than any other to have existed.

So to all those who think they know it all, which platform do I support?

GK, Nope. Can't image such a thing!
But I love it that we have this place to go back and forth about likes/dislikes. A place to rant/whine/Bi*ch. I mean who else would listen to us?... but another GEEK. lol.
I love the brains of SJ & BG and the great technology they have brought on to the world. Yeah, it's not always 100% at first. But as the GEEK that I am, I'm willing to take a chance and see for myself, see the improvements and watch technology grow.

Tim Edwards, I read your blog. And I totally agree with you. I can speak from experience because I've worked with Apple. Also I read this line "He then persisted to say that I was scared of Apple because their computers are becoming so easy to use that I will not be Able to get a job being a software engineer." I work as a salesman in a computer store. And hear many older people who used apple return to Windows because it is easier to use. There is also more hardware compattible for the PC (Windows). But if we go back in time ... I must say .. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have worked in some ways togeter to achieve what they have now.

I honestly couldn't agree more. I wrote a thing against people who seem to love Apple before which you can see on here on one of my blogs.

Windows set the benchmark but there still is so much out there. Nothing is best at everything, yet.

Well .. I'm really confused. Nope just kidding you. what I meant is that we need each other. But my preference is for Microsoft. I always say, in computer land, you have to be where most users are. Like P2P download servers, if you are with a small group of users, then there is not much to download. Most software is develepment for Microsoft, so there you are. Of course this is my opinion and not a fact!

Nick Teters, you say that we all need each other, but you say Microsoft is best?

Isn't that hypocritical?

I totally agree with this story. It is well and clearly defined as it works. Face it, how would the world be like if there is no competition.
I mean ... 1 operating system to rule them all and smigel always looking for his precious Bill Gates. But back to the story ... I mean come on, where would we been without the military. Without the military there would not have been an IBM. Without IBM there would not have been a Microsoft, Without Microsoft there was no Apple. no paid software, there was no Linux or open source.

And so on ...

And of course, what would google been without the internet.
So we need each other! It is the evolution that has brought us so far.

Remember what I tell you now, because it will change your life forever.....
Are you ready? Otherwise you should not read further

Microsoft is still the BEST: P
