At one time in our lives, we have all drunken soda, or pop as some people may say. What really is so bad about this? Well, for one, me, as a person, am addicted to the caffeine in soda, (Of course there are other ways to get the caffeine...COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and the sugars that are in most sodas are just outrageous. As Chris once said, if you drink soda, you are slowly killing your body, and this is true. One thing that I am looking for is if anyone has done any studies on this, the effect of drinking soda. But, it's not like...we can just QUIT drinking it (well, maybe for those few people that are not as deep addicted as most of us are) and it takes a lot of work to stop drinking soda. So, if you are not addicted to soda yet, don't start. Like any drug addict would tell you.

Don't know about any kind of study, but I can offer myself and my brothers up as test subjects already far into an experiment.

We've been drinking soda and eating sugary things by the case since we were kids. I distinctly remember that I used to down an entire 12 pack of soda in a single day. Candy was everywhere, and if we didn't have any of that, there was always the sugar in the foods my mother would make. Not sweet, but sugary.

As my brothers and I grew, we drank less soda, and in varying amounts from each other. One doesn't drink it at all, one drinks it from time to time, one lives off of it. None of us made this decisions consciously, it just happened that way. The one similarity between us, however, is that we are immune to caffeine. No joke. Caffeine has no effect on us at all. If we drink a lot of soda, nothing happens. If we lay off the soda for a month, nothing happens. It has no effect.

I have no idea how it happened, either. I rarely ever touch soda, or any caffeinated drink at all. When I do, it doesn't affect me one bit.

The artificial sweeteners, on the other hand, those have serious side effects. I'm one of those people that feel hungry due to artificial sweeteners. It usually only happens with Pepsi, but similar drinks do the same thing, if they have the same sweeteners. Neither of my brothers have this problem.

So, while caffeine (like any drug) can be addicting, it is so mild that you might just stop using it altogether if you continuously consume small doses of it. At least, that's what my results show. I really don't trust that kind of logic. ^_^;

I didn't drink Soda from the ages of 6 to about 12, then I started drinking soda again at the age of 12 because I thought "Why the hell not.", and quit drinking a majority of sodas again back in Mid-June (I'm 18 now, btw).

The sodas I do choose to drink only occasionally come out anyway, like the Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwbacks, Dr. Pepper Heritage, and Sierra Mist Natural. Basically, those that use real sugar instead of HFCS. Sodas with real sugar TASTE a lot better, and they don't have the negative effects sodas with HFCS do. (however, too much sugar in anything is bad).

Quitting for me wasn't really too hard. As I said, I didn't drink soda from the ages of around 6 to about 12, so I already knew how to get by without drinking it. I just simply decided one day to stop drinking the stuff. And on the rare occasion I do drink maybe one can of Soda with HFCS, it really tastes.... nasty. Especially when 95% of the soda I have had in the past 5 months had real sugar in it.

So for me, I just simply stick to drinking water, and coffee.

Great news. I totally quit drinking soda on a daily basis because of health issues---but, now I only limit myself to drink it when its obviously inevitable--like at the movies for instance or someone's house which unfortunately is all they have. Other wise its water,water,water for me. :D I for one have been addicted to Energy drinks as well like Sobe for instance. Horrible addiction. Then I dropped it and switched to Coke even worse! Water is the only way to go to keep your body well hydrated. ^_^

The word is MODERATION -- It's good for all things, hence "Too much of a good thing is bad...", even water!
