More Information

One thing I enjoy doing every day is checking out Craigslist to see if anyone is selling any cool computer parts or old Apple computers. The other day I stumbled upon a deal that just seemed too good to be true. The person was selling their brand new, current model 15" MacBook Pro. Not just the base model 15" MacBook Pro, but the high end, Core i7, $2,199 model. The price they were offering it for? $750. I couldn't believe it. You can't buy any "new" Apple notebook computer for that price. So I sent an e-mail, asking if the price was correct, why they were selling it, stuff anybody would be wondering. Here's the response I got back:

Hello,The MacBook Pro is brand new, I just removed the seal from the box to see what's inside, I am selling it because my platoon has been scheduled for deployment in Afghanistan and I need the money in the shortest possible time. It is priced to sell fast ( before November 22 ).
It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $750.00. The MacBook is in Syracuse, NY.Let me know if you are interested, logistics are not a problem. email me back.
A few specs:
*CPU *2.66GHz Intel Core i7-620M
*RAM *4GB (2x2GB)
*HDD *500GB 5400RPM SATA
*GRAPHICS *Intel HD Graphics5 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with automatic graphics switching
*SCREEN *15.4-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1440-by-900 resolution

Thank you

This just doesn't sound right. I don't know how someone can sell something on Craigslist that isn't even in my area. Who could trust something being shipped from New York to Wisconsin (where I live) that is from Craigslist? Even if this were true, it just seems too risky to try and send money over and expect some type of package to come back. I bet this person could have sold it for $2,000 if it really is brand new. Look out people! You never know if a deal could be bad!

And no, I didn't end up getting this "MacBook Pro."

Have you ever seen something like this? Did you buy something and didn't get what you were sold? Let me know in the comments below!

There our a LOT of scammers on Craigslist, the site even advises you to watch out. I would give this one a pass if you can't hold it in your hands before you hand over any money.
