More Information

I have always loved the Three Stooges and I know probably more than I should about their lives and careers. I collect just about everything relating to the group and am always on the lookout for new things.

Some time ago I heard a rumor, or rather saw a rumor, on the internet about a movie being made about the Three Stooges, their lives and shorts. The last movie made was in 2000, directed by Mel Gibson and was a pretty decent attempt at a look into the personal lives of the famous comedy team, but as far as I know, it was never released on VHS, DVD or other media. You can, however, find it on YouTube in about 9 different parts.

In 2012 a movie is aparently sceduled for release of the Three Stooges. This one was originally only going to be a remake of the group's shorts but has been changed to include information on their lives as well. The cast is something you might not expect. Curly, rumor has it, will be played by Jim Carrey, who is gaining weight to approximate the heavy set Jerome Horwitz (That was Curly's real name). Bonicio Del Toro is sceduled to play Moe and Sean Penn was scheduled to play Larry but has since dropped out of the project.

It seems the directors Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly are having a difficult time putting this project together so I do not expect it to be released on schedule, but I do look forward to another movie on the Stooges and hope this one survives to production.

For me, it would all depend on how much of it is a remark of old material versus material ABOUT them. If it's just a bunch of remarks of their old work, I'd rather just save myself some money and enjoy the originals.

I just added this series to my collection. Digitally remastered.
