UberStudent is a distribution of Linux based on Ubuntu and it's designed for students and other researchers. It's a fairly new distro and like i said it's is targeted mostly at high school students. Just like Ubuntu, ÜberStudent is a complete OS with programs for everyday computing tasks, but comes with an additional core of expertly configured programs, and many user-friendly extras, designed to increase your academic success. It’s Software Explorer enables you to easily extend ÜberStudent still further for specific academic disciplines, and it doesn’t stop there. Music and movie lovers, gamers, budding graphic designers, and those who insist on an ascetically eye-popping user interface will also be very pleased. Here are some other things about it (according to the homepage)
* Built upon compatibility with the latest distribution of Ubuntu
* Works "out-of-the-box"
* Multi-media ready
* Blazing fast (just like other Linux distros)
It also has some other programs pre-installed that Ubuntu doesn't have pre-installed e.g.
* Gnome-do
* Skype
* Top-shelf (organizer)
* Thunderbird
There are lots of other programs pre-installed as well but they are too many to list so check out the homepage at
