More Information

Hi There,

This Post is all about the Operating System Ubuntu, which is Linux and it is an Open Source alternative to Windows and Office. Ubuntu includes everything that you might need; Office Suite,
Web Browser, Multimedia Apps and even Instant Messaging.

To Test out Ubuntu in a virtual machine download a copy of Virtual Box (Download) and Download and Install Ubuntu from www.ubuntu.com.

There are many new features in version 9.10 and in a few weeks 10.04 comes out and that will have lots of fixes too. Ubuntu is free and is constantly being improved by the community, this is what makes it
such a good operating system.

There are different distributions of Linux but this is the best known distro. A few example of others are Fedora, OpenSuse and Linux Mint.

I Hope you found this explanation of Ubuntu interesting any please follow my blog at http://techsafer.blogspot.com.

I'm running 10.04 beta dual boot with Windows XP and except for one small glitch (custom mouse button configuration) it runs awesome!

I'd classify Ubuntu as the most user friendly OS, especially with the releases from the past year or so, they simplified partitioning so that you can just let the installer do most of the work for you. That instantly removes the most complicated part of installing any OS.
