More Information

E-Book readers like the Amazon Kindle which pretty much started the E-Book revolution used to do one thing and one thing only, Display E-Books for the user to read. Now, However they seem to be abe to do just about everything. E-Book Readers used to be a simplistic products purely for reading books, now with the Nook color for example you can watch movies. Like almost all other products they are starting to diverge from their original purpose. What ever happened to simplicity?

People didnt want to carry around a giant device for "just reading" as it seemed. The iPad came and changed all that. The many features made it worth carrying around.

I think you make really good point here, why does a book reader need to become a movie watcher as well? It seems to me that maybe attention spans are short; i.e using the ereader to read a book, get distracted, watch a film for a bit, back to the book...wander off to do the next thing

I'm looking at buying the NOOK color from B&H as a gift for Xmas. Do you have it? I compare the Kindle & Nook to Sega Genesis & PS3. Kindle was the first but it seems outdated compared to NOOK.

Any feedback on Pros/Cons

@JS "calling" feature hasn't improved at all. In fact, I imagine, for calling, the phone I had 10 years ago is probably better than the one I have now." lol iPhone 4 joke. haha

I don't know. But do you remember the time when cell phones were just for calling?

These days, mine can play video, take photos, edit photos, play games, surf the web, play music, read e-mail, help my organise my day, show me a 3D detailed rendering of the earth with lots of information, tell me the weather, etc.
But the "calling" feature hasn't improved at all. In fact, I imagine, for calling, the phone I had 10 years ago is probably better than the one I have now.
