I saw this video on MacRumors today and I was surprised at the things they are planning for an unreleased tablet, most likely the Apple Tablet. No longer would students have to carry around 4 books for their classes or even take notes!

Things I'm concerned about though is pricing. I've heard that it could cost around $1,000, which would be a lot for a school to pay if they wanted to get tablets for each student. It would lessen the cost of books since the eTextBooks would most likely be cheaper or could even be rented for a certain amount of time. Also the screen would have to be made for reading text more than displaying colors to reduce eye strain. We will all most likely find out in a couple of weeks at the Apple event!

Comment by jamesjimmy23 on January 6, 2010 at 2:48pm: And today now Samsung and another company have introduced eBooks that you can take notes on. One of the eBook's has a netbook like computer with it too so you can view color and then the eink on the other part, like a notebook.

Comment by jamesjimmy23 on January 6, 2010 at 1:09pm: Yeah true, most videos are shown in class but it's still an option. I'm sure most schools won't get any sort of eBook reader for all of the students for quite awhile but I'm sure it will happen some day.

Comment by Daniel Ingle on January 6, 2010 at 1:06pm: Not many can take notes but some can and there are even ebook readers out there (since the nook came out) that have bottom screens that are video capable... But we are talking about schools here how many videos did or do you watch in class that the teacher isn't showing... A lot of the reasoning here would also double as reasons not to use them as well the security issue would be a nightmare(what are they watching)...

@Daniel A regular eBook reader would be cheaper but currently there aren't any color screens and the Apple tablet would be able to do video so you could watch things also. Also the ability to take notes would be nice too which I don't think many of the eBooks can do.

Comment by Daniel Ingle on January 5, 2010 at 9:32pm: It would make more sense to go with an ereader of some kind for schools. Much cheaper than a tablet and at a grand (which is what i have read as well), there is not enough of a niche to keep this thing going.. You will get the apple people and a few others, and that is about it....
