Will YouTube Live Video Streaming Succeed?

As many of you know, YouTube is currently alpha testing live video streaming. Obviously they are far behind the game when it comes to this service, and I honestly do not think that it will succeed. The reason being that YouTube is not dedicated to only this service, so the features will not be as good as other live streaming services such as USTREAM.tv, justin.tv, and Stickam. These sites have dedicated the whole site to this service, so therefore the service would be superior to a site like YouTube who would use it just as an added feature.

I also don't think that creating this service would switch any big names in live streaming over from the service they have used for so long. For an example I will use Chris Pirillo. He has been loyal to USTREAM.tv since 2007, and I don't think he will be switching anytime soon. I do however think that this service will be useful for broadcasting press conferences, sports events, and music events.

Overall, I am somewhat looking forward to see how it turns out. But until that time comes, I feel that the service will not be that successful. Feel free to leave your thoughts about YouTube's new service, and thank you for reading my blog.
